School Photo Session

How you want to appear to the whole world (or at least to your school)

Der Tag des Fototermins rückt näher und näher. Man trägt sich das Datum in den Kalender ein, um ihn ja nicht zu vergessen und dann- steht man eines Morgens zu spät vorm Spiegel gerade an dem Tag, wo die Fotos für das Jahrbuch gemacht werden. Viel Zeit bleibt einem da natürlich nicht, sich ein schönes Outfit auszusuchen, das auch die Persönlichkeit unterstreicht und besonders ab den Schultern gut aussieht. Mit 4 einfachen Mitteln könnt ihr eure Erscheinung noch retten:

The day of the photo session moves closer and closer. You register the date in your calendar and then- one morning you oversleep exactly at that day, where photos are made for the yearbook. Therefore you don't have many time to choose a nice outfit, which underlines your personality and looks good from your shoulders. But with 4 easy tricks you can save your appearance:

 

1. Peter Pan Collar:
Ihr solltet euch vor allem auf euren Halsbereich konzentrieren, weil man bei diesem Fotoformat am meisten machen kann. Ein schlichter Bubikragen ist sehr klassisch, kann aber etwas spießig aussehen. Deswegen sind auffällige Ohrringe (die ich bei diesem Foto nicht anhabe) ein Muss.
You should especially concentrate on your neck area, because there you can do the most if you have this format of picture. A simple Peter Pan Collar is very classy, but can also look square. Thus, amazing earrings (which I don't wear at this pic) are a must.

2. An Interesting Blouse
Hemden mit einem auffälligen Muster und/ oder einem interessanten Kragen sind echte Eyecatcher. Am besten ihr greift eine Farbe aus dem Muster wieder in anderen Kleidungsstücken auf.
Button-down shirts with a flashy print and/or an interesting collar are real eyecatchers. Best, if you pick up a colour of the print in other clothes.

3. Statement necklaces
Ja ja, die gute, altbewährte Statementkette. Damit zeigt ihr, dass ihr auch nicht vor Ausgefallenem zurrückschreckt, egal wie hässlich es vielleicht ist. Pluspunkte verdient ihr, wenn die Kette auch noch selbstgemacht ist, wodurch eure "kreative Seite" ans Tageslicht kommt.
The good, old statement necklace. With it you show, that you don't shrink from eccentric things , doesn't matter how ugly it is. You earn brownie points , if your necklace is "DIY", whereby your "artistic face" comes to daylight (not twilight XD, lol, rofl).

4. Freaky sunglasses.
Trag ein Bandshirt, dunklen Lippenstift, komische Sonnenbrillen und posiere. Deine ideale sind street-style-model Ikonen? Dann ist der Stuhl des Schulfotografen deine Bühne und du musst dein ganzes Modelpotenzial zeigen, weil du weist, dass du in diesem Schuljahrbbuch entdeckt wirst. Go girls, zeig mir alles was du kannst!
Wear a band shirt, dark lipstick, freaking weird sunglasses and strike an awful pose. Your ideals are the street-style-model icons? Than the chair of the school photographer is your stage and you have to show all your potential of a model, because you know that you will get discovered in the yearbook. Go girl and show me all your talent.

Overalls

Overalls. Was sind eigentlich die Vorteil von Overalls? Ich meine sie sehen eigentlich schon sehr plump aus,  sind schwierig zu kombinieren und du musst die Oberhand über deine Blase gewinnen, denn aufs Klo gehen wird schwierig. Aber sobald man mal herausgefunden hat was man dazu anziehen kann, sehen sie einfach toll aus. Nicht jeder hat einen und sie können zu so vielen Gelegenheiten getragen werden. Mit Highheels oder doch Sneakers, elegant oder sportlich- Overalls sind sehr wandelbar.
Overalls. What are the advantages of an overall? I mean it looks clumsy, it is difficult to combine and you have to get the upper hand of your bladder, because going to the toilet with an overall is quite complicated. But if you found out what to wear to your one-piece suit it just looks great. Not everybody has one and you can overalls to many occasions. With high heels or sneakers, elegant or sporty- overalls are totally convertible.

Prada Imitation

Trousers: Mango, Shoes: Zara

Es ist so weich... Nein ich rede nicht von meiner Katze sondern von meiner neuen Lieblingsjacke. Ich habe sie mir anfertigen lassen nach einem Original von Prada, das allerdings um die 5.000 Euro kostet. Der Rest des Outfits kann schlicht und in den Farben der Jacke gehalten werden. An kälteren Tagen ist die Jacke auch als ungewöhnlicher Pullover geeignet.
It is so soft and cozy... No I don't talk about my cat but about my new favourite jacket. It was fabricated for me after a Prada original, which certainly costs 5.000 Euro. The rest of the outfit can be simple and in the colours of the jacket. When it's cold outside the jacket is also a very good cozy sweater!

How to wear: Sneakers

Was? Du weißt nicht wie du deine Sneakers anziehen sollst? Ok, mir ging's genauso. Aber nach einer Schrankdurchsung und einigen Festnahmen stellten sich diese beiden Outfits der Fashionpolizei. Beide sind ohne die Schuhe etwas prüde und eher Business- oder Schultauglich. Doch gerade die Sportschuhe bringen Farbe und 90er Charme mit sich. Und meine Reeboks verkörpern Freiheit. What? Freiheit? Wovon labert sie? Aber: Diese Schuhe tragen die Möglichkeit mit sich, sofort los zu rennen, dem Alltag zu entfliehen und seinen Regenbogen zu finden. Du musst nur daran glauben. Der Regenbogen ist irgendwo da draußen. Lauf, Forr.. äääh Reeboks, lauft!
What? You don't know how to wear your new sneakers? Ok, I had the same problem. But after a closet search and some detentions these two outfits turned themselves in to the fashion police. Without the sneakers both of them are a little bit prim and business- or school capable. The shoes give them colour and a little bit of  90ies charm. And my reeboks stand for freedom. What? Freedom? About what does she babble? But: With these you have the opportunity to run away and find your rainbow. You just have to believe. Somewhere there is a rainbow for you. Run, Forr... Reeboks, run!

That One Thing (5): Pink Budapester

I want candy... Diese Schuhe verkörpern alles, was ich liebe: Süßigkeiten, Farben,... Ja das war's eigentlich. Perfekt passt mein neues Lieblingspaar zur hochgekrempelteten Jeans und strahlend bunten Socken, am besten in einer Konträrfarbe.
I want candy... These shoes represent everything I love: Sweets, colours... Yeah that's it. My new favourites match perfectly to a cut jeans and bright coloured socks, best in contrasting colours.

Sustainable style - What does it mean?

In many areas of our life we care about the environment: most of us buy organic food, we switch off the light when we are leaving the room or we mind to buy recyclable paper. Why shouldn't we carry on with sustainability in our closet? It is easier than you think: You can say no to low-budget temples like Primark and look out for quality and not (!) quantity. I know it is a change and many qualitative clothes cost more - but consider: they will last pretty longer . However, don't get me wrong: I
did not necessarily mean just designer clothes (I would not say no to them though) as qualitative clothes. Why not search for a little store in your hometown which produces stylish clothes and pays attention to  sustainability.

And do you know what the best and easiest (fashion)thing is that you can do for your environment? Get it? Yes, right: DIY! You do not always have to buy a complete new closet. Just think of how you can make the best out of your old grey sweater (some studs or pearls?) and you have a new favourite in your attire.

These hints all together? Take this outfit, that Käthchen created: The lace jacket is from a little store in Berlin, Friedrichshain. It was a cute little shop and the owner explains to us that all of her clothes are made out of natural materials. It was on sale so it just cost fifty bucks. Then, take a look at these shoes: They are the product of one of our DIY's. The best item is the beautiful blouse made of environmentally friendly produced silk - given its present shape in the Netherlands. If you look at it and touch it you really feel what a difference a good fabric can make. Irresistibly light, a delicate wanderer between different nuances - fashion is my staff of life, so I want to be good in every possible way.

The Coat (Part 2): A coatskirt

Sweater: Zara; Satchel: Cambridge Satchel Company; Small Cross body bag: Zara

Ihr fragt euch wahrscheinlich: Sie hat in der Überschrift "The coat" geschrieben, aber wo ist der Mantel!!! Tja- habt ihr ihn jetzt gefunden? Ja genau, da ist er! Man kann einen (Regen)Mantel auch als Rock tragen! Gut, es sieht etwas unförmig aus, aber- who cares! Es sieht extrem "high-fashyyy" aus. Ihr könntet glatt als unglaublicher kreativer "Streetstyler" aus Japan (der neue Hotspot) durchgehen. 
You may wonder: She wrote in the headline "The coat", but where is it? Now- have you found it? Yeah, right there is it! You can also wear a (rain)coat as a skirt! Okay, it looks a little bit bulky and misshapen, but- who cares! Your outfit will look extremly "high-fashyyy". You could pass off as an amazing creative "streetstyler" from Japan (the new hot spot).
